GPM Sportsfest 2025 Badminton Tournament Marks Milestone with Expanded Participation

On August 9, 2025, the badminton competition officially kicked off the 2025 GPM Sportsfest at the Smartshot Badminton & Sports Center in Malate, Manila. This year’s tournament featured eight competing teams: Global Process Manager Inc. (GPM), Garrets International (Garrets), GN Resound (GN), Wrist Ship Supply (Wrist), TravelPeople Ltd., Inc. (TPLI), Travel Services, Inc. (TSI), and the newly added squads from A. Magsaysay, Inc. and Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (AMI-MPRC) and Magsaysay Shipping and Logistics (MSL).
The event started at 8 am with the Opening Program hosted by Christine Daya and Moises Alvendia. During the program, Cecille Gamos, Head of HR Shared Services and Chairperson of the GPM Sportsfest Committee, delivered the Welcoming Remarks. She highlighted the growth of the tournament, noting that while it has traditionally been limited to GPM and its client teams, this year marks a milestone as it includes other Magsaysay organizations. “We’ve held the GPM Sportsfest for the past five years,” she shared. “This year, we proudly welcome participants from AMI-MPRC and MSL.” The opening ceremony also featured an oath-taking led by Glindo Mira of Garrets, formally signaling the start of the competition.
In the Women’s Division, Eureka Ebbay and Teresita Lucernas of MSL secured the championship with outstanding teamwork and precise execution. Julie Vicente and Chelsie Manalastas of Wrist claimed the 1st runner-up title with an impressive performance.
In the Men’s Division, Rex Isles and Dexter Bernal of AMI-MPRC clinched the championship through their powerful smashes and exceptional coordination. The duo of Ramon Galang and Gerald Perez of MSL settled for 1st runner-up, showcasing determination and solid partnership throughout their matches.
In the Mixed Division, Andhie Villanueva and Jerrymee Melad of GPM emerged victorious through sharp coordination and agility. Eureka Ebbay and Jonathan Dela Cruz of MSL also delivered a strong showing, earning the 1st runner-up spot.
The tournament was a true celebration of athletic skills, camaraderie, and the spirit of friendly competition.
