The GPM-Human Resources Shared Services (GPM-HRSS) Payroll Team has reached a milestone worth celebrating. With seven team members earning their Certified Payroll Specialist (CPS) credential this year, joining one colleague certified last year, the team has now achieved 100% CPS certification.

The journey began last year when Payroll and Benefits Senior Manager, Mar A. Llagas, became the team’s first CPS. Recognizing the certification’s value to payroll operations, he encouraged the team to pursue the same credential. HR Shared Services Head, Maria Cecilia O. Gamos also pursued the certification, reinforcing the importance of continuous learning and professional development. With the support of its leaders, what began as an individual achievement became a shared goal.

Reaching this milestone required dedication, discipline, and teamwork. Before taking the CPS examination accredited by the Institute of Accounting Technologists, Inc. (IATI), the team attended weekly review sessions facilitated by a lecturer from the Accounting Certification and Training Institute (ACTI). The sessions covered labor standards, government compliance, taxation, and other key areas of payroll administration.

The CPS credential represents the team's continued effort to strengthen its expertise and uphold high standards in payroll service delivery. In a function where accuracy, compliance, and accountability are essential, continuous learning plays an important role in ensuring employees receive reliable and timely payroll support.
