After nearly 33 years of dedicated service at the Magsaysay Group, hereof 16 years in Global Process Manager Inc. (GPM), Mafie Leaban has announced her retirement from GPM. Throughout her extensive career, Mafie has made significant contributions to the company, particularly as Payroll & Benefits Manager. Her expertise and leadership have been exemplary in enabling GPM meet the needs of clients - to the satisfaction of the 100+ shipping principals that Magsaysay supplies seafarers.  

Mafie's journey with the Magsaysay Group began decades ago when she quickly became known for her commitment to excellence and ability to navigate complex payroll systems. Under her guidance, GPM developed robust processes that allowed for timely and accurate payroll disbursements, which were crucial in supporting the workforce. Her efforts have improved operational efficiency and created a positive work environment where employees feel valued and supported. 

On January 30, 2025, GPM held a farewell party that honored her significant achievements and contributions to the organization. Colleagues shared fond memories and anecdotes, emphasizing her kindness and leadership while expressing collective gratitude for her hard work and mentorship. The heartfelt gathering celebrated GPM's professional achievements while strengthening the personal bonds she nurtured within the team, leaving an inspiring legacy as she embarks on her new chapter. 

Erik M. Nielsen, GPM President, acknowledged Mafie's 33-year career with the Magsaysay Group, expressing gratitude for her hard work and contributions to the GPM. He emphasized the department's steady progress, even with a brief pause during the pandemic, and encouraged her to embrace new opportunities. He also emphasized that this new chapter will bring more time to engage with family and pursue personal interests. Mr. Nielsen concluded by celebrating Mafie's achievements, stating, “You have accomplished so much, and that is why we are here today.”
